NGO charges stakeholders to invest in girl-child

A Non-Governmental Organisation, Initiatives for Social Inclusion and Grassroots Literacy, has called on parents and stakeholders across Nigeria to believe in and invest in the girl-child.
The organisation said every girl-child has the potential to become an agent of change in society and should therefore be trained and mentored to assume leadership positions.
This was contained in a statement issued on Wednesday by the organisation’s Community Engagement Officer, Lilian Ugorji.
The Head of Strategy and Operations of ISGIL, Luqman Gidado, made the call in Abuja during a programme held to commemorate the 2025 International Day of the Girl-Child
The event, organised in partnership with ZAN Multi Concept, had students, teachers and education stakeholders in attendance.
Gidado, who is also the Executive Director of ZAN Multi Concept, said the movement placed girls at the centre of crisis response, community resilience, and national development.
He said, “It is a movement that places girls at the centre of crisis response, community resilience, and national development. We see girls not as victims of circumstance, but as architects of change.
Let us continue to invest in our girls, champion their potentials, and walk alongside them as they rise to lead change in their communities and beyond.”
The Founder and Chairman, Board of Trustees of ISGIL, Owoseye Oluwayomi, described investing in children as investing in the nation’s future.
“Let us be reminded that true progress begins when we lift others. Every little act of kindness, every investment in a child’s dream, and every step we take towards inclusion contribute to building a more just and equitable society,” he said.
Also speaking, the Chairman of the FCT Universal Basic Education Board, Dr Alhassan Sule, represented by the Deputy Director, Placement and JSS Department, Dr Safiya Tamanuwa, urged the girls to dream big, embrace leadership early, and strive for excellence.
