2027: No anointed NASS, state assembly candidates, says Osun APC

Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress, on Monday, declared that its leadership has no anointed candidates for the elective posts in the 2027 general elections.

It subsequently cautioned its members to desist from actions and inactions capable of rocking the prevailing peace in the party few months to the governorship election in the state.

In a statement signed and made available by the spokesperson of the party, Kola Olabisi, Osun APC, stated that it was “wrong for some elements to be spewing falsehoods from the corners of their rooms, depicting that the leadership of the party has anointed some candidates for the National and House of Assembly elections coming up in 2027.

“There is no iota of truth in such propagation of falsehoods as there was nowhere either in the past or present that any meeting on such an agenda was discussed.”

The party appealed to its members and  supporters to discountenance the “misinformation and disinformation and consign same to the dustbin of information as it still remains within the realm of rumour.”

The statement added, “What should preoccupy the minds of anyone who calls himself a worthy and dedicated member of our party now should be the concerted efforts to collectively work assiduously for the victory of our governorship candidate, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji (AMBO), and his running mate, Aare(Engr) Benjamin Kayode Adereti, in the forthcoming governorship election.”

Describing it as a disservice to Osun APC for members to be promoting avoidable acrimony and crisis for personal interest at the detriment of the collective interest of the party, the leadership charged its members to work together and prioritise its success in the governorship poll.

It further stated that, “It is not true that the APC under my watch has anointed some candidates for the national and House of Assembly elections.

“It is a figment of the imagination of those who are propagating the falsehood which is being touted deliberately to destabilise our party which is antithetical to the position of the party that all the aspirants for the national and state assemblies should, for now, dissipate their energy on the election of AMBO.”

It maintained that with the election of Oyebamiji as the Osun governor, “other things would fall in place and life would become more abundant for all the strata of the society in the state.”

The reports that INEC had scheduled primaries that will produce candidates for the 2027 general elections between April 23 and May 30.

Ahead of the primaries, political parties in the state have been putting in place various measures to manage the fallout of the contest in a bid to prevent major division going into the August 15 governorship poll.
