Ex-OOU Student Activists Reunite to Champion National Development

Lagos, Nigeria - In a significant move to reignite the spirit of activism and social responsibility, former student activists from Olabisi Onabanjo University (OOU), Ago Iwoye, converged in Lagos over the weekend. The meeting, attended by prominent alumni from diverse disciplines, marked the beginning of a new chapter for the Activists Forum (A-FORUM), a revolutionary organization rooted in Marxism-Leninism that has historically fought for students' freedom and emancipation on campus.
The reunion brought together like-minded individuals passionate about driving positive change in Nigeria. During the gathering, participants engaged in thought-provoking discussions, sharing their experiences and insights on the current state of the nation. The group identified key areas requiring urgent attention, including education, healthcare, and economic empowerment, and plans to launch a series of initiatives aimed at promoting national development and social justice.
Comrade Bayo Akinmoladun, spokesperson for the group, emphasized, "We recognize that our nation faces numerous challenges, but we also believe in the potential of our people to drive positive change. As human rights activists, we are recommitting ourselves to the cause of national development, and we invite fellow Nigerians to join us on this journey."
The meeting was attended by a cross-section of former OOU activists from various graduating classes, including Comrade (Dr.) Olumide Onafeso, the former Student Union President of OOU, Comrade Adebayo Akinmoladun, a one time Speaker of the Student Representatives Council (SRC), Comrade Frank Odigie, Comrade Seyi Raji, Comrade Akeem Akilo.
Also in attendance are Comrade Ayodeji Obe (Obelia), Comrade Oyagbile Mohammed (Manga), Comrade Amigwom Patrick, Comrade Olaolu, Comrade Adeoye Abiodun, Comrade Aliu Babatunde, Comrade Kehinde Awofegha, Comrade Abdul Adetunji, Comrade Hamed Seyi, Comrade Mustapha Adebisi, Comrade Salau Mutiu Olufemi (Obesere) and several others.
The meeting also saw virtual participation from esteemed individuals, including Comrade (Canon) Adelakun Samuel, the national leader of the Forum, and Comrade Femi Adesanya Nuberu, a former OOU SUG President. Other virtual attendees included Comrade (Dr) Niyi Arikewuyo, former President of the faculty of Social and Management Science (SMS), and Comrade Olusina Zinsu, Comrade Seyi Olubanjo, and Comrade Samuel Adelakun, Comr. Femi Osun, Comrade Shina Ajayi, Comrade Laleye, among others.
The former student activists collectively expressed their commitment to working together to develop innovative solutions to Nigeria's pressing challenges. They pledged to leverage their diverse skills and expertise to promote sustainable development and social justice in the country. The meeting concluded with a renewed sense of purpose and a clear vision for the future, as the group plans to establish a formal organization to serve as a platform for advocacy, community engagement, and collaborative problem-solving.
With this reunion, A-FORUM is poised to play a significant role in championing national development and social justice in Nigeria, and its members are eager to collaborate with fellow Nigerians to drive positive change.
