A’Ibom gov approves N20,000 allowance for NYSC members

Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, has approved a ₦20,000 monthly allowance for all National Youth Service Corps members of Akwa Ibom origin serving across Nigeria.

This followed a recent upward review of the allowance for corps members serving within the state, from ₦5,000 to ₦20,000, effective August 1, 2025.

A statement from the Government House in Uyo on Tuesday said the new policy was one of the key resolutions reached during the State Executive Council meeting held on Monday.

The governor explained that the decision is part of his administration’s Renewed Hope – ARISE Youth Support Initiative aimed at easing living costs and improving the welfare of corps members.

This decision aligns with the Renewed Hope, ARISE Youth Support Initiative. It is intended to cushion living expenses and promote the well-being of corps members.

The grant is subject to periodic review based on prevailing circumstances,” the statement read.

Eno also recently approved the reconstruction of the NYSC Orientation Camp in Ikot Itie Idung, Nsit Atai, as part of broader efforts to improve the corps members’ welfare and service conditions.

The government described Akwa Ibom as one of the safest and most accommodating states for corps members, noting their vital contributions to sectors like education, healthcare, agriculture, and rural development.

The statement added that the governor’s gesture reflects a leadership style rooted in “compassion, inclusiveness, and strategic support for the next generation.”
