200 participants gain knowledge at National STEM Day 2025 event
In furtherance of efforts to promote STEM careers and practical innovation among the upcoming generation, over 200 people including students, teachers and volunteers, were engaged in a series of activities aimed at knowledge sharing to mark this year’s National STEM Day event successfully met its core objective of promoting STEM.
The event held on November 8th with the theme:“STEM as a Catalyst: Igniting Creativity and Entrepreneurship in the Next Generation,”recorded remarkable participation from 13 schools across the city of Ibadan.
Convened by Mrs Cecilia Adenusi, the founder of HSPROJECTS technologies Limited, the event featured amazingfacilitators Mrs Enitan Olaosebikan and Ms Adeola Lawal and it garnered strong positive feedback and outstanding engagement from participants throughout the program.
Schools that participated include Top Rank Intellectual Academy Akobo Ibadan, Tobi International School, Jericho, Daisy Montessori Nursery/Primary School, Idi Ape, Stars Comprehensive College Old Ife road Ibadan, Habaabu Rosuulu School, Royal College, Horlick Private Schools, Loyola College, Power Kiddies Academy, International School Adewunmi Future Leaders, LBIS, and Mimbar College.
The impressive turnout demonstrated strong community interest in STEM education and youth innovation. The program featured focused, STEM Innovative talks, hands-on learning tracks designed to maximize engagement, creativity, and practical problem-solving skills.
STEM School Projects showcase that included students presentation on: Carbon built Smart Home, Rain Sensor device system, Autonomous Smart Car, Carbon-Based Robotic Arm and diverse projects on Coding with Python and scratch with smart calculator project, maize game, mobile app development with MIT App for age range
The co-convener, Mrs. Olufunke Oyedun, Founder of TechTheSpecials, led an engaging session on AutoDraw AI workshop, students learned to draw using AI, and participated in a competition to design creative images using the Water Cycle design as a prototype. Students from Daisy Montessori Nursery and Primary School emerged the winner in the Junior Category while Stars Comprehensive College came first in the Senior Category
Innovation Speech was delivered by the Mother of the day, Prof. Mrs. Olufunke Vincent followed by a guest speaker, Dr. Olusola Ayoola, ably represented by Mr. Nurudeen Adesokan.
Female Guest Speaker Mrs. Omowonuola Omotoso talked about the 17 SDGs goal for the students to think on how they can explore those goals to solve their community challenges while the father of the day, Professor Seyi Osunade, also encouraged the students on STEM engagement for creativity and innovation , being the game changer of their generation and he also gave fatherly advice to the students.
Cecilia Adenusi challenged the students so go back home to commence to build innovative solutions and build robots and embedded system that and solve community problem and be prepared to showcase their project at the forthcoming Ibadan Robotics ShowTime 2026, that she is currently organizing.
The break out session commenced with diverse break out session on CHESS Tournament led by Mr.Peter Awonusi and Mr Olabode Sofoluwe, Robotics Tournament led by Nigenius, Solar Installation session for students led by Mr. Akinmolayan Peter, Founder of Energy Pro as well as AI Art & Creativity led by Ms Omosalewa Oyekunmola.
In her opening remarks, Adenusi appreciated the Nigeria Women in Information Technology (NIWIIT) Oyo state Coordinator, Madam Samotu Adejoke for her words of encourage and coordination of gifts for all the winners and the entire amazing NIWIIT women for being volunteers, serving as judges and panelists.
In her closing remarks, the co-convener Mrs. Olufunke Oyedun reminded participants that STEM is not only about science or technology, but about vision, creativity, and the courage to solve problems in their communities.
