UNILAG graduate Oreoluwa Odetunde found dead in New York apartment
Oreoluwa Odetunde, a first-year Master’s in Business Administration student at the S.C. Johnson College of Business, has been found dead in her off-campus residence.
Odetunde, an international student from Nigeria, earned her bachelor’s degree in economics from the University of Lagos in 2017
At Cornell, she was actively involved in several student organizations, including the Johnson African Business Society, the Black Graduate Business Association, and the Old Ezra Finance Club.
According to a report by The Cornell Daily Sun, Odetunde was both a Forté Fellow and Sage Scholar and had participated in research and strategy analysis at companies including Anchoria Asset Management and Greenwich Merchant Bank.
“We are devastated for Oreoluwa’s family, friends, classmates and instructors and extend our deepest condolences in this difficult time,” read a LinkedIn post from the Cornell Johnson Graduate School.
In response to her death, the university held a support meeting for the S.C. Johnson College community on Friday, Feb. 6, at 5:00 p.m. in the MBA Student Lounge, Sage Hall 301.
An additional meeting is scheduled for Monday, Feb. 9, at 5:00 p.m. in the Edwards Room, Anabel Taylor Hall G14.
