Sexual assault: Celebrities on alert as UK remands Poco Lee

Nigerian entertainers travelling to the United Kingdom have been advised to exercise greater caution following the remand of popular dancer and hypeman, Iweh Odinaka, better known as Poco Lee, over alleged sexual offences.

Poco Lee remains in custody in the UK after Snaresbrook Crown Court in London confirmed that he faces one count of attempted rape, two counts of rape and two counts of assault by penetration.

The case has been listed for a plea and trial preparation hearing on September 15, 2026, while a reporting restriction has been imposed to protect the anonymity of the complainant.

Poco Lee travelled to the UK for the Davido and Friends event at Crystal Palace Bowl on August 14.

His management has maintained that the allegations do not amount to proof of guilt, urging the public and media to allow the legal process to take its course. The management also dismissed circulating claims about drink-spiking, saying they were unrelated to the charges before the court.

The development has generated reactions within the Nigerian entertainment industry, with some celebrities and their associates publicly discussing the need for caution when interacting with people abroad.

Singer, Koko Pee, whose real name is Okokowa Jerry, drew attention after unveiling what he described as “intention forms” and “consent forms” in a video shared online.

Koko Pee, who is preparing for a show in the UK, said the documents were intended to establish that any woman who chose to engage with him had done so voluntarily, while stressing the importance of consent.

The forms reportedly request personal information and include declarations relating to voluntary and sober consent.

Although Koko Pee presented the move humorously, the development reflects concerns among some entertainers about navigating relationships and consent while travelling abroad.

Streamer and content creator, Carter Efe, has also received warnings from fans following videos of him socialising with women in London.

The videos, which were shared by accounts on X, prompted some users to reference Poco Lee’s case and urge Efe to exercise caution.

One user, @Asian_500, warned, “London women again? We are yet to settle the first matter. Carter, be very careful ooo, I don’t want to hear the story that touching the heart tomorrow.”

Another user, @Mrtwizjohn, wrote, “You’d be better off taking a leaf out of Poco Lee’s book! I like your crazy side too, but I don’t want to see you end up in jail.”

@TinnyMillz722 cautioned, “U sha Dey see poco case enjoy wisely make dem no put u for talk too I talk my own oo before dem go say justice for person now.” @RemyTobey04 added, “Okay, once allegations start to dey fly. Make nobody spam justice 4 carter,” while @eric_moneybag wrote, “Be careful before they set you up o, because that’s how they do things over there in England.”

Controversial singer, Portable, who is also currently in the UK, was also advised by fans to be cautious in his interaction with female fans.

The reactions highlight the growing attention being paid by Nigerian entertainers to consent, personal conduct and legal risks while working or socialising in the UK.

As Poco Lee’s September 15 court hearing approaches, the case continues to attract attention within the Nigerian entertainment industry, with some personalities responding through public warnings, humour and increased caution.
