Osun working with FG to export indigenous products – Adeleke

Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has said his administration is collaborating with federal agencies to ensure goods produced in the state reach international markets.

Speaking in Osogbo, the state capital, on Monday during the opening of the 2025 Osun Trade Fair, Adeleke said the government is working with the Nigerian Export Promotion Council and the Nigerian Investment Promotion Commission to expand global market access for Osun-made products.

The governor added that his administration had established industrial clusters and agro-processing zones to increase production, add value, and position Osun as a leading hub for agro-allied and creative industries in Southwest Nigeria.

Represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Mr. Teslim Igbalaiye, Adeleke said the fair’s theme, “Positioning Local Content for the Global Market,” reflects the state’s commitment to quality production and competitiveness.

He said, “We continue to partner with development agencies and private investors to strengthen small and medium enterprises. Osun-made products—including honey, cocoa, garri, adire, black soap, and crafts—already meet global standards. The next step is strong packaging, branding, and export readiness. This is why we work closely with NEPC, NIPC, and other partners to open wider export channels for our producers.

“We believe these industrial clusters and agro-processing zones will further position Osun as a leading hub for agro-allied and creative industries in the Southwest.”

Adeleke also commended the leadership of the Osun State Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines & Agriculture, the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, the business community, and other partners for organising the fair, noting that strong government-private sector collaboration is key to success

In his welcome address, Osun State Commissioner for Commerce and Industry, Mr. Bunmi Jenyo, said the state is undergoing a systematic repositioning of its commercial and industrial sectors through policies that champion innovation and inclusive growth.

He added that the ministry is committed to strengthening local industries and supporting vibrant micro, small, and medium enterprises by enhancing the value chain of the state’s natural and human resources to meet international standards and branding requirements.

Jenyo also said ministry officials are actively engaging with the business community to identify challenges and co-create practical solutions, urging participants to work together to make the fair successful.

Earlier, on October 17, Mr. Bunmi Jenyo unveiled a document detailing the organisation and investment opportunities available at the 2025 Osun Trade Fair. David Awotipe, chairman of the Trade Fair Committee, said the event is open to businesses of all sizes, financial and research institutions, and all local government areas in the state.

Awotipe highlighted that the fair aims to promote Osun’s industrial and commercial potential to the global market, showcase the contribution of commerce and industry to economic growth, and expose local products, agriculture, mining, and tourism for international opportunities.
