Kogi varsity expels eight students over examination malpractices
The management of the Confluence University of Science and Technology, Osara, Kogi State, has expelled eight students over examination malpractice.
This was contained in a letter signed by the Deputy Registrar (Academics), Mr Eli Gbadufu, made available to journalists on Wednesday in Lokoja.
According to the letter, the decision was ratified by the university’s Senate at its 30th regular meeting held on Wednesday, April 29, 2026.
“The expulsion followed investigations by the Examination Misconduct Committee into violations recorded during the first semester examinations of the 2025/2026 academic session,” the statement noted.
The letter stated that the affected students were found guilty after due process and in line with the university’s academic policies as outlined in the Student Handbook, Page 33, Item 19.
The institution reaffirmed its zero-tolerance stance on academic dishonesty.
“The eight expelled students cut across various departments and levels of study, including: Ogedemgbe A. Nelson – 100L, Economics; Yakubu Abdulrazak Adavize – 300L, Library and Information Science; and Olowu Samuel Ayomide – 200L, Mining Engineering.
Others were: Usman Bilal – 400L, Information Technology; Adams Michael – 200L, Information Technology; Ale David – 200L, Mechanical Engineering; Habiba Muhammed – 100L, Business Administration; and Mustapha Faith Adetutu – 200L, Agricultural Science,” the management stated.
The CUSTECH management reiterated that the institution remained committed to upholding the highest standards of academic integrity.
The institution urged all students to conduct themselves in accordance with the university’s rules and avoid acts that undermine the credibility of its academic process.
“The move signals CUSTECH’s determination to preserve the value of its degrees and maintain discipline across all faculties as it continues to grow as Kogi State’s premier science and technology university,” the statement added.
