Online trolls: Lagos ambassador ‘arrests’ mother, daughter

Lagos State anti-drug abuse ambassador, Ayomiposi Oluwadahunsi, popularly known as Mandy Kiss, has caused the arrest of fellow influencer, Opeyemi Oyindamola, and her mother for alleged trolling.

Oyindamola and her mother, popularly known as Mummyanddaughter982, who have over 80,000 followers on Instagram, recently gained social media attention after launching a viral challenge featuring pupuru — a local delicacy from Ondo State — served with vegetables.

The duo, known for sharing opinions on controversial religious and social issues, have since attracted widespread online engagement.

In a video shared on her Instagram account on Saturday, Mandy Kiss was seen arriving in Ondo State by car.

Moments later, Oyindamola and her prophetess mother could be seen seated in the same vehicle as they tried to plead with a visibly angry Mandy Kiss.

“You have meddled in someone else’s business, and you will suffer for it. You are saying I shouldn’t be angry? Mummy, you and your daughter will suffer. Both of you won’t find rest,” Mandy Kiss said in a video reel viewed .

She also shared a photo showing both Oyindamola and her mother standing in what appeared to be a police station.

Mandy Kiss gained widespread attention last month after announcing plans to attempt a controversial Guinness World Record by sleeping with 100 men, a declaration that sparked public outrage and calls for her arrest.

After the GWR distanced itself from the stunt, the 25-year-old influencer posted a video on Instagram to plead for forgiveness, explaining that her earlier statement was a joke.

Joining the criticism were Oyindamola and her prophetess mother, who had vowed to “report” Kiss to God.

They said in a video, “Before you spoil this nation, we will report you to the Lord, unless you change. What you are promoting is destroying children.

Imagine youths who are listening to you, and they cannot help it because Instagram and other apps will bring it to them. And when they listen to you, you influence them so that everything they start thinking will be how to act on this rubbish that you’re teaching.”

In a fiery Instagram video posted on September 29, Mandy Kiss mocked and insulted the duo’s appearances, warning them to stop mentioning her name.

“You know this is the second video you are doing about me. If you do another video and mention my name, I will travel down to Ondo or Ekiti, where you live and beat the two of you. Don’t ever advise me again,” Kiss warned.

On September 30,  report that the state Commissioner for Youth and Social Development, Mobolaji Ogunlende, appointed Mandy Kiss as an ambassador for the Lagos State Kicks Against Drug Abuse initiative.

“We are here with Mandy Kiss, and you know, she’s actually agreed to become one of our LASKADA brand ambassadors, Lagos State Kicks Against Drug Abuse.

“We must work in collaboration with those who can reach as many people as possible, and we know Mandy Kiss has a large followership, 402,000. We’ve had conversations, and we’re trying to do things differently,” Ogunlende said.

Commenting on the reported arrest, the state Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, explained that Mandy Kiss’ appointment as an anti-drug ambassador was based on the government’s assessment of her as a positive influence on young people.

He, however, noted that the appointment didn’t make her immune to human flaws or indict the state that appointed her.

“The Lagos State Government will continue to encourage anybody willing to change his or her ways, and all of us, including the media, should also join hands to encourage our youths to behave well.

“We won’t condemn, ours is to reform, encourage people to do better than they are doing. If Kiss did something bad, it’s unfortunate because it wasn’t meant to be like that, but we will continue to encourage as many young people as possible who want to change their ways.
