Nurses laud Kaduna gov for implementing salary structure

The Kaduna State Council of the National Association of Nigeria Nurses and Midwives has commended Governor Uba Sani for implementing the Consolidated Health Salary Structure and the Consolidated Medical Salary Structure for healthcare workers in the state.

The commendation was contained in a letter jointly signed by the State Chairman, Ishaku Yakubu, and the State Secretary, Christiana Bawa, and addressed to the governor on Tuesday.

The association described the move as a significant act of fairness and magnanimity, which has restored the confidence of nurses and midwives in the current administration.

“This singular act of magnanimity and fairness has rekindled the hope of many dedicated nurses in your administration and in the Renewed Hope Agenda of Mr President,” the statement read.

According to NANNM, Governor Sani has demonstrated a genuine commitment to the welfare of nurses and other health workers, while reaffirming his passion for strengthening healthcare delivery systems in Kaduna State.

The council also acknowledged the governor’s decision to implement the salary structures despite the competing demands on the state’s limited resources.

Yet, Your Excellency prioritised the well-being of health workers,” the letter noted.

NANNM further stated that the implementation of CONHESS and CONMESS has boosted the morale of health workers, improved productivity, and positioned Kaduna as a model for labour-friendly governance in Nigeria.

The group pledged continued loyalty, dedication, and professional service to the state as part of its contribution to the administration’s transformation agenda in the health sector.

It was reported on September 4, 2025, that there was palpable relief among health workers in Kaduna State following Governor Uba Sani’s approval of the implementation of the 2024 Consolidated Health Salary Structure and hazard allowance, effective September 2025.

The announcement, which has been widely welcomed by the medical community, was disclosed during a press briefing in Kaduna by the Chairman of the National Association of Nigeria Nurses and Midwives, Kaduna State chapter, Ishaku Yakubu.
