Girls are treasures, better leaders, says Anambra gov’s wife

The wife of the Anambra State governor, Dr Nonye Soludo, says girls are treasures, changemakers, better leaders, better leaders, adding that any society that wants to grow must first acknowledge the uniqueness of the girl child and do all that it can to protect and guard them.
The Anambra First Lady, who is the founder of ‘Healthy Living with Nonye Soludo’, urged families, work and worship places, schools, and communities, to do the best it can to establish the best environment for every girl to succeed in.
She stated this in a statement released on Saturday to mark the International Day of the Girl Child, adding that as a government that thrives on inclusivity, the state has taken extraordinary steps to build a healthy society for every gender to live and excel in.
She said the society must take intentional steps to talk and take sincere actions on peculiar issues affecting the girl child.
The statement read in part, “How much do we really talk about and take sincere actions on peculiar issues affecting the girl child? That question summarises the depth of our efforts at reaching out to the real concerns of the girl child in our families and communities.
“We may have done so well in answering some of the critical questions, but as far as we still have statistics showing a portion of lack, then we haven’t really done enough.
“Girls are treasures. To be a girl child is to be born unique, intelligent, rare, and beautiful. Girls are changemakers, best managers, and better leaders. Any society that wants to grow must first acknowledge the uniqueness of the girl child and do all that it can to protect and guard them.
In our families, work and worship places, schools, and communities, we must also do the best we can to establish the best environment for every girl to succeed in.
“As a government that thrives on inclusivity, we’ve taken extraordinary steps to build a healthy society for every gender to live and excel in.
“Our plan starts from the period of conception through the free antenatal care and delivery services (including C-Section births), which are currently on in Anambra State, to empowering dreams, through our truly free education policy in all public schools in the state.”
According to her, the Anambra State government has revamped it’s health sector and opened up easy access to affordable and quality health care delivery.
“We have also revamped our health sector and opened up easy access to affordable and quality health care delivery.
“For every child in Anambra State, we understand and take responsibility for their dreams. For every girl child in our dear state, we do even more because to be a girl is to be super special.
“Happy International Day of the Girl Child to all the phenomenal girls in Anambra State and elsewhere. You’re a changemaker. Always remember that,” the statement concluded.
