FAAN donates boreholes to host communities in Edo

The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria has provided three boreholes to its host community in Benin, the Edo State capital.

The Ogbe community, comprising Ogbe Stadium, Ogbe-Ibuya, and Ogbe-Nogbon, are hosts to the airport in Benin, making them key stakeholders in the area.

The inauguration of the boreholes in each of the Ogbe communities on Thursday was performed by the Benin Airport Manager, Mr. Felix Akinbinu, accompanied by the management staff.

Akinbinu stated that the gesture demonstrates FAAN’s commitment to supporting the well-being of its host communities, noting that the idea behind the gesture is to promote a cordial relationship between FAAN and the communities.

He said that the decision to provide boreholes was made because access to clean water would benefit a large number of the community’s inhabitants.

He emphasised that this initiative fosters a synergy that can be built upon, highlighting the importance of mutual understanding and cooperation.

He assured the community that more projects are forthcoming and called for continued cooperation between FAAN and the host community

According to him, the provision of boreholes to the host community is part of FAAN’s efforts to maintain a cordial relationship with the community.

He said, “We all know that water is essential in our daily lives, and that is the major reason for the provision of these boreholes. It will benefit a lot of people in the three communities.

“While it is also a way to demonstrate our CSR, the gesture will also foster cooperation between FAAN and these communities, who have been our hosts since inception.”

The community leader from Ogbe-Ibuya, who simply gave his name as Pa Osa, expressed gratitude for the provision of the borehole but pleaded with the management of FAAN to consider providing them with power due to the erratic power supply to the communities.

The FAAN implements its Corporate Social Responsibility programmes through community engagement, environmental stewardship, and human capital development.
