Two actors die after eating rice in Owerri

Two actors have been confirmed dead after reportedly consuming rice, wine, and calypso at a house party in Owerri, the Imo State capital, on Friday.
Sources disclosed that the deceased actors whose names were not disclosed and others attended a house party after filming a movie.
One of the sources said, “During the gathering, they ate rice and drank wine and calypso provided by the movie director. The party continued late into the night, but the movie director, who went to bed early, later woke up in the early hours of Friday to turn off the generator and switch to public power supply. It was then that he discovered two people dead and the other two struggling to survive.”
A social media user, Kaito Karisia, who posted the incident on Facebook, stated that the two surviving males were receiving treatment at the Federal Teaching Hospital in Owerri.
Meanwhile, the movie director and the three women who were at the party have been arrested by the police.
The spokesperson for the Imo State Police Command, Henry Okoye, confirmed the incident, stating that investigations had already begun to determine the cause of the deaths.
“Yes, the command is aware of the unfortunate incident of unnatural death. I can confirm that two people were pronounced dead while two were hospitalised.
The Commissioner of Police, Aboki Danjuma, has directed the pathologist to conduct tests on the two deceased persons to ascertain the cause of their deaths. The command assures that investigations will be thorough, and the results will determine the next line of action on the matter,” Okoye said.
