Primaries: APC chieftain calls for unity in Ogun

The Federal Commissioner representing Ogun State at the Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission, Akeem Amosun, has intensified efforts to rally support for the All Progressives Congress senatorial primary in Ogun Central, calling on party members to back Senator Salisu Afolabi ahead of the exercise scheduled for Monday, May 18, 2026.

Amosun made the appeal during a political gathering held at his residence on Monday in Abeokuta, where he hosted party faithfuls, youth groups, women leaders, and political associates.

Addressing the crowd, he urged APC members across wards in Ogun Central Senatorial District to turn out peacefully at their polling units and ensure overwhelming support for Afolabi in the primary election. He stressed that unity and discipline within the party remained crucial to securing victory.

He noted that the same level of commitment demonstrated during previous internal party alignments, including the support for Hon. Afolabi Afuape, should be replicated in backing Afolabi’s senatorial ambition.

According to him, “Just as our members stood firmly behind Afolabi Afuape, the same spirit, dedication, and loyalty are required for the success of Senator Salisu Afolabi in the senatorial primary election. We must remain united and committed to the progress of our great party.”

Amosun described Afolabi as a loyal party member with the experience and capacity to represent Ogun Central effectively at the Senate, adding that the APC must continue to prioritize internal cohesion as it prepares for the primary.

He also appealed for peaceful conduct during the election process, urging party members to avoid any actions that could disrupt the exercise, and emphasizing that politics should be guided by decorum and mutual respect.

The gathering reportedly drew enthusiastic supporters who expressed confidence in Afolabi’s candidacy and pledged to mobilize votes across the senatorial district. Many attendees described Amosun’s intervention as a strong signal of unity within the party ahead of the contest.
