Police disburse N10.9m to families of deceased officers in Katsina

The Commissioner of Police, Katsina State Command, CP Bello Shehu, has on Thursday presented cheques not less than ₦10,957,292.72k to 34 beneficiaries under the Group Life Assurance and the IGP’s Family Welfare Scheme for the next of kin of police personnel who lost their lives in active service to the nation under Katsina State Command.

Bello was represented by the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Department of Finance and Administration, DCP Aminu Gusau.

This is contained in a statement by the command Public Relations Officer, DSP Abubakar Sadiq and made available to newsmen on Friday in Katsina.

The statement said, “The CP appreciated the Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun for his compassion towards the families of the fallen heroes and his unflinching dedication towards improving the welfare of police officers and their families.

“Furthermore, he urged the beneficiaries to see the gesture as a form of relief and tribute to the sacrifices made by the fallen officers. He encouraged them to effectively utilise the funds, particularly towards the betterment of the lives of the families left behind. He prayed to the Almighty for the repose of the departed souls.”

Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, Nuhu Bello Gohe expressed their heartfelt gratitude to the Inspector General of Police for his compassion and promptness towards the disbursement of the fund and assured that the funds received would be used judiciously.
