The Ogun State Environmental Protection Agency (OGEPA), Task Force has sealed Forest Timber Industries Limited and Long Xing Plywood Industries Limited for environmental infractions.

General Manager of OGEPA, Hon. Kehinde Bello disclosed this to newsmen when the Task Force team moved to Okunowa town in the Odogbolu Local Government Area of the State for the compliance and enforcement exercise.

Bello stated that Forest Timber Industries Limited, which is into production of plywood and particle board violated Government laws by practicing, open burning, poor management of social waste and emissions from their chimney.

While Long Xing Plywood Industries Limited, which is also into plywood manufacturing, was found guilty of environmental infraction by not obtaining environmental approval and a history of denying government’s agencies officials access to its facility.

The OGEPA boss, explained that the agency was compelled to seal the industries after several warning which they refused to adhere to.

''These offences are against the environmental laws of the State and the Agency is more determined to enforce these laws to ensure public safety'' He said.

''We will not fold our arms and allow industries in the State to continue to violate our environmental laws'' Bello said.

He called on all industries to abide by the environmental laws of the State to prevent government from sealing off their facilities.
