NSCDC deploys 2,280 personnel for Easter celebration in Kwara

As Christians across Kwara State prepare to celebrate Easter, the Kwara State Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Commandant Bala Bodinga, has ordered the deployment of 2,280 personnel across all 16 local government areas of the state.

According to a statement by the Civil Defence Public Relations Officer, Kwara State Command, ASC I Ayoola Michael, made available to journalists in Ilorin on Thursday, Bodinga said the deployment is aimed at preventing potential breaches of law and order during the Easter festivities and stopping mischief-makers from causing mayhem.

He reassured the public that “the Corps’ presence will be visible and strategically positioned across churches, recreational centres, motor parks, shopping complexes, and other critical locations to deter criminal activities and ensure a safe festive period.”

He further noted that “surveillance and patrol operations have been intensified in both urban and rural communities, with tactical units and rapid response squads on standby to swiftly address any emerging threats.

Bodinga charged officers to take resolute and decisive action against individuals with criminal intentions, particularly those bent on vandalising national assets or government infrastructure.

He warned that anyone planning to disrupt public order during the Easter celebration should desist, stressing that offenders would be apprehended and made to face the full weight of the law.

Extending his Easter greetings to Christians, Bodinga urged residents to embrace the season’s values of love, sacrifice, and peaceful coexistence, while cooperating with security agencies to ensure a safe and peaceful celebration.
