Niger police hunt four-man bank robbers gang

A gang of notorious armed robbers who trailed an unsuspecting bank customer from his bank branch in Minna Niger State and later dispossessed him of the money he withdrew from the bank has been advised by the police  to officially lodge a complaint.

It was gathered that the incident happened on Monday morning at Tunga Market, when the unnamed man left the bank with the money he had earlier withdrawn but was unaware that the robbers were trailing him.

Our correspondent learnt that the suspected robbers who were four in number and drove a Toyota Camry vehicle, ash colour  crossed his path and blocked the Mercedes Benz vehicle which the victim drove in.

“The man was later double crossed around the City Gate area, where he was dispossessed of a yet to be ascertained sum of money.

Meanwhile, the Niger State Police Command spokesman, Wasiu Abiodun, who confirmed the incident on Monday, said the Commissioner of Police in the state, Adamu Elleman, has directed his officers to ensure that the suspects were arrested.

Aniodun stated,  “Today, 8th September, 2025 at about 8.45am, report received indicated that there was a robbery around Tunga Market, Minna, where a Toyota Camry vehicle, ash in colour with four men crossed and blocked a Mercedes Benz vehicle.

“The victim in the Mercedes vehicle was allegedly robbed of a yet to be ascertained sum of money when coming from the old city gate area

However, all Police patrol teams and divisions were immediately alerted for quick intervention, immediate and possible recovery including the arrest of the suspected armed robbers.

“The Commissioner of Police has directed the Area Commander in Minna and DPO Tudun-Wada Div to quickly swing into action and ensure a forensic investigation with a view to arresting the culprits, while the victim was advised to officially report the incident at the nearest Police station,” Abiodun narrated
