Eagles can win in Bloemfontein – Nwabali

Nigeria goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali feels the Super Eagles have the quality to nick a win against South Africa in Bloemfontein on Tuesday (today), as they face off in a crunch 2026 World Cup qualifying match

The Super Eagles currently trail the Bafana Bafana by six points in Group C, and they need a win to revive their chances of qualifying for the tournament in the USA, Canada and Mexico.

After seven games in the 10-game series, the Super Eagles have won just two games, losing one and drawing four other matches.

With three matches to go, they are third in the group with 10 points, and are at risk of missing out on a second consecutive World Cup.

Ahead of the clash against the group leaders, Nwabali remains optimistic that they can follow up their 1-0 win over Rwanda with another victory.

I feel like we have a very strong squad to match any country. I don’t see it as a big thing to us. We respect them because they are doing well by topping the group. Even though it’s going to be a tough game, I feel we will come out strong,” Nwabali told NFF TV.

“Every game has its own plan. You might have seen them against others, but it’s a different approach when it comes to Nigeria. I feel we will win that game.”

South Africa are top of the group with 16 points, followed by the Benin Republic with 11 points while the Eagles are third with 10 points.

The top team in the group will join eight other African countries who top their respective groups to pick the automatic tickets to the tournament which will be played in the USA, Canada and Mexico.
