Imo community moves to preserve Igbo culture

Stakeholders of Eziudo Ezinihitte community in Mbaise Local Government Area of Imo State have called for the preservation of the Igbo cultural heritage in the state

Speaking to newsmen in Owerri on Monday, the President General of Eziudo Central Development Union, Surveyor Bartholomew Nwokocha, highlighted the importance of culture in the life of any community

He said, “The importance of culture cannot be overemphasized given its purpose in the direction of the people’s way of life. If the people could trace their origin and cultural heritage, their life styles will begin to fall in line with their culture”.

“Any time we leave our cultures, we lose direction of who we are. Those good cultural heritage remind us of our collective resolve to remain resolute in the face of threat of abrogation of our revered cultures and traditions.’’

Also, the chairman of 2026 Oji Ezinihitte Festival, Chief Chidubem Orji said that the event will lead to the culmination of cultural carnival that re-echoes the essence of coming together of a people within the ambit of their culture. “Tell me a people who are mindful of their character and public behaviour and I will show you a people whose cultural values are held in high esteem.”

Orji hinted that the age long cultural festival has over the years witnessed displays of variety of cultures across the over thirty communities and fourteen towns making up Ezinihitte Mbaise.

He urged the traditional rulers, stakeholders, politicians, captains of industries, Commissioners, senators among others to emulate the togetherness upon which the Oji Ezinihitte being hosted by Eziudo is birthed for the longevity of the culture of the people.
