Idris Elba hails Lagos as ‘most amazing city’

British actor Idris Elba has described Lagos as “the most amazing city in the world,” praising the Nigerian megacity’s energy and creative talent.
Elba made the comments to ETalk TV on the red carpet at the TIFF Tribute Awards held on September 7.
In a video making rounds on social media, the award-winning actor reflected on his time in Lagos while filming Dust to Dreams.
“Lagos, if you have never been there, is the most amazing city in the world. I had a great time. The talent there is incredible,” he said.
The actor said he left the city with “a wealth of incredible memories.”
He singled out a moment when British singer Seal (Henry Olusegun Samuel), who has Nigerian roots, performed while adopting a Nigerian accent as one of the standouts from his visit.
Elba received a Golden Globe Award for his role in Luther, a Screen Actors Guild Award for Beasts of No Nation, and an OBE for his services to drama.
He was also named one of Time’s 100 Most Influential People in 2016.
His endorsement adds to growing international attention on Nigeria’s film and creative industries, which have drawn directors and actors to Lagos in recent years.
