I ghosted my grilfriend after meeting Davido – Peruzzi

Nigerian singer Peruzzi has opened up about how his life changed after meeting Afrobeats superstar Davido, revealing that the experience contributed to the collapse of his relationship of 7 years.

Speaking during a recent episode of the “Lights, Camera, It’s My Turn” talk show with media personalities VJ Adams, Tope Olowoniyan and singer Falz, Peruzzi admitted that he ‘ghosted’ his girlfriend for days after suddenly finding himself exposed to a lifestyle he had never experienced before.

According to the singer, the excitement of travelling, fame and being around Davido made him completely lose touch with his relationship at the time.

I have had a relationship that did not work because I did not text back for like three days. I was on some things. I was not disconnecting from the world; it was just the ex. I did not text her; I was with my guys, enjoying life. First of all, I just met Davido,” he said.

Explaining how overwhelming the experience felt, Peruzzi described how quickly his reality changed after linking up with the DMW boss.

Imagine this, you just met Davido, you met him today, and tomorrow you are on a flight to Dubai. The following day, a flight to Lebanon. I do not understand. I am calling whom?” he said.

The singer added that at the time, he was too consumed by the excitement of his new lifestyle to focus on constant communication with his girlfriend.

“Why do you think I would call you? First of all, I am enjoying something that has never happened to me in my life,” he stated.

During the conversation, media personality VJ Adams reminded him that his girlfriend was still waiting for him, prompting a humorous response from the singer.

“She no go die now,” Peruzzi joked.

Despite the humour surrounding the story, the singer admitted that the situation might have turned out differently if he had been deeply in love at the time.

Of course, I think to be honest, if it were somebody I was really in love with at that time, it might have been different,” he added.

The revelation has since sparked reactions online, with many fans debating relationships, fame and how sudden success can affect personal connections.

Peruzzi remains one of the notable artists closely associated with Davido and DMW, contributing to several hit songs within Nigeria’s Afrobeats scene over the years.
