Gov Otu, Betta Edu APC leaders pledge 1.5m votes for Tinubu in 2027
Heavyweight political leaders in Cross River State have pledged to mobilise at least 1.5 million votes for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 general elections.
The commitment was made on Monday during a high-level All Progressives Congress (APC) stakeholders’ meeting convened by Governor Bassey Otu at the Calabar International Convention Centre.
Attendees included the immediate past APC National Women Leader and Minister, Betta Edu; state members of the National Assembly; the Speaker of the State House of Assembly; party executives; and youth and women groups.
Addressing the gathering, Governor Otu urged President Tinubu to support the reclamation of Cross River’s oil wells, restore its full littoral status, and increase federal appointments for indigenes to ensure the benefits of the Renewed Hope Agenda reach grassroots communities. He also highlighted ongoing federal projects, such as the Calabar-Lagos Coastal Highway, as examples of successful collaboration.
Governor Otu praised Hon. Betta Edu for her loyalty and dedication to the party and the state. Speaking on the sidelines, Edu called for intensified grassroots mobilisation, inclusive engagement, and sustained voter education ahead of the 2027 elections. She expressed confidence that the state’s residents would benefit from federal policies and backed calls for the restoration of Cross River’s oil-producing status, following discoveries of over 100 oil wells in the estuary.
Senators and members of the House of Representatives also pledged to strengthen mobilisation across their constituencies. Stakeholders reaffirmed their commitment to delivering a decisive electoral mandate for President Tinubu and supporting Governor Otu’s second-term bid in 2027.
