Meat seller sexually assaults 12-year-old-boy

A 50-year-old meat seller, Usman Abubakar, has been accused of sexually assaulting a 12-year-old boy in Niger State.

The incident allegedly happened in Angwan-Daji when the young boy visited the meat seller’s shop to purchase meat for his mother.

Arewa PUNCH learnt that when the boy returned home, his mother  noticed  that he was uncomfortable and reeling in pains in his anus while also unable to sit properly, as bruises were observed on his bottom.

Upon questioning, the boy was said to have pointed at the meat seller within the neighbourhood as being responsible for his plight.

The kid was also said to have revealed how the meat seller sexually abused him.

Arewa PUNCH gathered that following the disclosure, the family reported the incident to the police which promptly arrested the suspect.

According to the police, the suspected  Abubakar confessed to the crime and narrated how he lured the boy to his shop with roasted meat for the act.

The spokesman of the Niger State Police Command Wasiu, confirmed the incident and said that the suspect was undergoing further investigations and would be prosecuted.

“On 22nd February 2026, a report was received from Angwan-Daji against one Usman Abubakar 50 years of the same area.

“A boy of 12 years was observed by the mother, who noticed that he was uncomfortable, feeling pain in his anus and unable to sit properly, with bruises on his bottom.

“When the boy was questioned, he mentioned one meat seller around their house, who was later identified as Usman Abubakar.

“The suspect was immediately arrested by the Police operatives attached to ‘A’ Div Minna, and during interrogation, he confessed to the crime, stating that he uses roasted meat to lure the boy to his shop for the act.

“The suspect is in custody, and the boy is undergoing medical examination,” Abiodun said.

He also noted that the Commissioner of Police condemned the act and assured that the suspect would face the law and warned parents and guardians to monitor and protect their children

“The Commissioner of Police, Niger State Command, CP Adamu Elleman, strongly condemns this act of sexual assault/gross indecency and assures of thorough investigation and prosecution of the suspect while urging parents/guardians to monitor and protect their children against this criminal act,” Abiodun stressed.
