Foursquare church raises the alarm over rising insecurity
The Foursquare Gospel Church in Nigeria has raised fresh concerns over the worsening security situation in the country, calling on Christians to intensify prayers for peace and national stability.
According to a statement on Saturday, the General Overseer, Sam Aboyeji who spoke at a press conference in Lagos, said rising cases of violence, insurgency and kidnapping across parts of the country required urgent spiritual and collective response.
He noted that persistent insecurity, particularly in northern Nigeria, had led to loss of lives and displacement of communities, describing the situation as deeply troubling.
“These are not just headlines; they represent real lives, families, and futures under threat,” he said, urging Nigerians not to become indifferent to the crisis.
Aboyeji called on Christians across denominations to rise as intercessors, praying for divine intervention, healing for affected communities and restoration of peace in troubled regions.
According to him, the church has a responsibility to respond not only with compassion but also with spiritual authority in times of national distress.
He also urged sustained prayers and support for Nigeria’s armed forces and security agencies, noting that they had continued to risk their lives daily to protect the country.
“May God grant them courage, boldness, strategic wisdom, and supernatural protection as they confront those who seek to destabilise our nation,” he said.
The cleric spoke ahead of the church’s 2026 International Conference for Ministers and Leaders, expected to attract over 10,000 participants from within Nigeria and abroad.
The conference, scheduled to hold from April 13 to 16, 2026, at the church’s campground along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, will focus on spiritual growth and leadership development.
Themed “Operating in the Anointing,” the event will feature teachings and ministrations aimed at strengthening Christian leaders and addressing both spiritual and societal challenges.
Aboyeji expressed optimism that through collective prayers and renewed faith, Nigeria would overcome its current security challenges, adding that the Church remains committed to fostering peace, stability and national development through spiritual guidance.
