Ex-Liverpool player Ibe sentenced for assault on ex-girlfriend

Former Liverpool and Bournemouth player Jordon Ibe has been sentenced to a 12-month community order after pleading guilty to assaulting his former girlfriend in south London.
As reported by the BBC on Friday, the 30-year-old former England Under-21 international attacked Amie Mayson outside her home in Lambeth in December.
Croydon Magistrates’ Court heard that Ibe pulled a braid from Mayson’s head during an argument, leaving her with a bald patch.
Ibe had previously denied a charge of assault occasioning actual bodily harm in March but later changed his plea to guilty.
Representing himself in court on Friday, Ibe said he had made “a serious mistake” and expressed remorse for his actions.
“I understand it is wrong. I am genuinely remorseful,” he told the court.
“I’ve had to look at myself in the mirror. I cannot change what I did but will take responsibility for what I do next.”
Magistrate Brij Kalia sentenced Ibe to a 12-month community order, which includes 80 hours of unpaid work and 27 days of rehabilitation activity.
He was also ordered to pay £764, including a £114 surcharge and £650 in court costs.
Ibe began his professional career at Wycombe Wanderers before moving to Liverpool. He later played for Bournemouth and earned international recognition with England’s Under-21 side.
