Delta kingdom to crown SAN as monarch
All is set in Delta State for the crowning of the Vice President of the Nigerian Body of Benchers and Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Albert Akpomudje (SAN), as the 14th Ohworode of the ancient Olomu Kingdom.
This was contained in a statement signed by the Secretary of the Olomu Kingdom Traditional Council, John Ewenede, copies of which were made available to journalists in Warri on Tuesday.
The statement noted that Akpomudje, who until now was the Otota (Traditional Prime Minister) of Olomu Kingdom, will be formally crowned on Saturday, November 15, 2025, at Otorere (Agbon) Olomu in Ughelli South Local Government Area of the state.
A reception will follow immediately after the coronation at the royal palace, opposite the Magistrates’ Court, Akperhe-Olomu, the statement added.
Akpomudje’s emergence as the Ohworode-designate followed the demise and burial rites of the 13th Ohworode, Macaulay Ovbagbedia, Uhurhie-Osadjere II, from the Uhurhie Ruling House.
The immediate-past monarch, a retired Assistant Commissioner of Police, was crowned on May 20, 2023, but passed away in July 2025 after a brief two-year reign, the shortest in the history of the Olomu Kingdom.
Following the completion of traditional rites, Akpomudje, as the next in command, ascends the throne in line with the customs of the Olomu people.
The incoming monarch, a respected lawyer and Worldwide President of the Government College, Ughelli Old Boys Association, hails from Akperhe-Olomu, a community under the Eyavwien Ruling House.
As preparations for the coronation continue, drums, dances, and decorations have filled the communities, with indigenes and guests eagerly awaiting the royal event.
