Cops nabbed over killing of Lagos passersby

The Lagos State Police Command, on Friday, said it had arrested its men who were allegedly involved in the accidental shooting that killed two passersby in the AIT area of Alagbado, Lagos.

Saturday PUNCH gathered that some policemen who were reportedly pursuing suspected internet fraudsters, popularly known as “Yahoo boys,” around the area accidentally fired gunshots in the process.

Confirming the incident, the spokesperson for the command, Abimbola Adebisi, said the officers had been arrested

In a tweet on her X on Friday, Adebisi said, “The officers involved in the unfortunate shooting incident that occurred today (Friday) in Alagbado have been arrested and taken into custody.

“The Commissioner of Police has ordered a thorough and intensive investigation into the incident, as well as the adequate deployment of personnel to forestall any breakdown of law and order.

“Normalcy has been restored to the area. The Command assures the good people of Lagos State that justice will be served and the outcome of the investigation will be made public in due course.”
