Bauchi commited to orphans’ well-being – Commissioner

The Bauchi State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to supporting orphans and vulnerable children in the state.
The state Governor Bala Mohammed stated this on Wednesday during a rally organised by Bauchi State Orphans and Vulnerable Children Agency, BASOVCA, to celebrate the 2025 World Orphans Day.
Governor Bala, who was represented by the State Commissioner of Women Affairs, Child Development, and Social Welfare, Zainab Baban-Takko, said, “The state government is committed to supporting orphans and vulnerable children in areas of education, health, and other key sectors.
“BASOVCA’s humanitarian efforts highlight our crucial role in supporting vulnerable children.
The state government had earlier approved a one per cent salary deduction from civil servants and two per cent from political office holders to support BASOVCA.”
Also speaking, the Chairman of BASOVCA, Yalwa Tafawa Balewa, expressed gratitude to the state government and other development partners for their support.
She reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to providing welfare support to orphans and vulnerable children.
