Atiku mourns two casualties in Ogun road accident involving Anthony Joshua
Former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar has expressed sadness over a reported road accident in Ogun State involving British heavyweight boxer Anthony Joshua, which allegedly claimed two lives and left others injured.
In a post on his X (formerly Twitter) account on Tuesday, Atiku said he was “deeply saddened” by reports of the incident, said to have occurred in the Makun area of Ogun State, and offered prayers for Joshua’s recovery.
I am deeply saddened to hear of the road accident involving @anthonyjoshua today in Makun, Ogun State,” Atiku said on his X account.
“I stand in full solidarity with him during this difficult moment and pray for his swift and complete recovery. Anthony remains a symbol of strength and resilience, and I have no doubt he will come through this with grace.
My heartfelt condolences go to the families and loved ones of the two individuals who tragically lost their lives in the accident. May their souls rest in peace, and may their families find comfort and strength in this time of sorrow,” Atiku wrote.
Former two-time heavyweight world champion Anthony Joshua has reportedly been involved in the accident, which occurred along the busy Lagos-Ibadan Expressway in Makun, Ogun State.
According to reports circulating on social media, the vehicle conveying the Nigerian-born British boxer collided with another car under circumstances yet to be fully established, resulting in the deaths of two people.
Images and videos shared online show a damaged vehicle at the scene of the crash.
Joshua has family roots in Sagamu, Ogun State. Investigations into the circumstances surrounding the incident are ongoing.
