Police dismiss rumour of military helicopter dropping objects in Anambra bush
The Anambra State Police Command has dismissed a viral security alert circulating on social media, which alleged that a military helicopter dropped unknown items in a bush between Nimo and Adazi-Nnukwu communities in Anaocha Local Government Area of the state.
The command described the alert as a false alarm capable of causing unnecessary panic and undermining public confidence in the state’s security network.
In an official statement released on Thursday by the command’s spokesperson, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the police revealed that tactical teams were dispatched to the area to verify the claims as soon as the report surfaced online.

“Following the report, the command immediately deployed operatives to the area for verification and assessment. So far, findings revealed that the alleged location remains calm, with no suspicious objects or any security concerns observed.
Normal activities continue within and around the area, while security operatives maintain routine surveillance to ensure public safety and sustain public confidence,” the statement read.
Reacting to the development through the statement, the Commissioner of Police for the Anambra State Command, CP Ikioye Orutugu, urged residents to remain vigilant but completely disregard the false narrative.
The CP reiterated the command’s commitment to proactive policing, intelligence-led operations, and effective collaboration with other security agencies and community stakeholders in maintaining peace and security across Anambra State.
He further encouraged residents to verify security-related information through official channels and report suspicious activities to the nearest police station or other security formations,” the statement concluded.
