2027: Adelabu promises to work for Oyo APC’s success

The Minister of Power, Bayo Adelabu, has expressed his readiness to make personal sacrifices and abide by the terms necessary for the success of the All Progressives Congress in Oyo State ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Adelabu made this known in an interview with journalists on the sidelines of a meeting with the state APC executives and the 33 local government chairmen of the party, held at his private residence in the Government Reserved Area, Ibadan, the state capital, on Saturday.

He emphasised that the party is more important than any individual political officeholder, stressing the need for unity and collective effort to ensure the APC’s victory in the state.

“Reconciliation is also about sacrifice. It is about mutual sacrifice. Everyone is going to put down something. There is no reconciliation without sacrifice, no reconciliation without compromise, and no sacrifice without cooperation, collaboration, and partnership.

What matters most is the party’s success in the 2027 general elections.

“Nothing is too much for anyone to sacrifice. Everybody knows that there will always be terms and conditions that will be beneficial to all members of the party,” Adelabu said.

The minister noted that the meeting discussed President Bola Tinubu’s administration, the state of the APC in Oyo, and his own contributions since assuming office as Minister of Power.

We deliberated on the success of the APC in 2027. We met today to review the state of the party and also discussed its overall progress.

“We looked at the achievements of the Tinubu-led administration—his initiatives for economic growth, peace, harmony, and industrial development—ranging from the student loan scheme to agricultural programmes and zonal development plans.

We are satisfied with President Tinubu’s performance so far and remain optimistic that the next two years will bring even greater progress.

“However, a more comprehensive assessment will be done at a statewide stakeholders’ meeting we plan to organise soon in Abuja.

“We will not rest on our oars. We still have a long way to go to ensure reconciliation is total,” he added.

Adelabu also shared updates on his work at the federal level saying, “I briefed them on my activities as their representative in the Federal Executive Council and how my efforts as Minister of Power have impacted the lives of Nigerians.”

On the party’s chances in 2027, he said, “We believe that Oyo State will return to the APC. We will ensure internal democracy within the party so that the best candidates emerge.

This is our first stakeholders’ meeting, and we will follow it with consultations in Abuja involving our three senators and nine House of Representatives members. But first, the party must be informed of the steps we intend to take.”

Also speaking with journalists, the Oyo State APC Chairman, Mr. Isaac Abass, said the meeting was part of ongoing efforts to reconcile party members and present a united front ahead of 2027.

“I’m delighted to be here today at the minister’s invitation. It was a successful meeting focused on achieving lasting peace in the party. I’m quite happy with the outcome. The people should expect us to reclaim the Government House in 2027.

“We’ve been engaging aggrieved party members, and today’s meeting signifies that we are making good progress,” he said.
