Zamfara offers permanent jobs to 60 volunteer nurses

Zamfara State Governor, Dauda Lawal, has granted permanent employment status to 60 nurses who volunteered their services at the Yariman Bakura Specialist Hospital in Gusau, the state capital.
This decision, according to a statement by the state Commissioner for Health, Dr. Nafisa Maradun, on behalf of the governor, on Sunday, comes as part of Lawal’s initiative aimed at revitalising the state’s healthcare system following extensive renovations and upgrades to the hospital facilities.
The statement partly read, “The governor’s approval is particularly timely as Zamfara State endeavours to establish a robust healthcare infrastructure and attract capable medical personnel to manage the healthcare services being implemented.
“With these new appointments, the state aims not only to enhance the quality of healthcare delivery but also to curtail the trend of medical tourism, where residents often seek healthcare services in neighbouring states.
The governor emphasised the importance of professionalism among the new staff members, urging them to prioritise patient care and aim to save lives while providing adequate support to all who seek treatment at the hospital.”
In addition to these new appointments, the statement revealed that efforts are being made to strengthen healthcare facilities across the state.
The commissioner explained that “Many dilapidated hospitals are in the process of being reconstructed and equipped with modern medical technologies, which will facilitate more efficient diagnosis and treatment protocols.”
The statement added that despite the recent refurbishment of primary healthcare centres throughout the state, the administration is dedicated to ensuring that all hospitals operate effectively and are accessible, affordable, and conducive for all residents.
It reiterated the governor’s commitment to ending the era of neglect in infrastructure development, emphasising the state’s ongoing efforts to maximise public resources and pursue new initiatives that will elevate Zamfara to a position of strength and sustainability in healthcare delivery.
