Yusuf presents two commissioner-nominees to Kano Assembly

The Kano State House of Assembly has received a request from Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf seeking the confirmation of two commissioner nominees as members of the state executive council.

The correspondence from the governor was presented during the plenary by the Speaker, Jibril Ismail Falgore, on Monday.

In a statement issued by the Speaker’s spokesperson, Kamaluddeen Sani Shawai, the nominees are:  Abdulkarim Rabiu Maude, SAN, and Dr Aliyu Isa Aliyu, the immediate past Director-General of the Kano State Bureau of Statistics.

According to the governor, the nominations were made based on merit, integrity, and a proven track record of competence in public service.

Governor Yusuf has placed high priority on competence and integrity, and this is reflected in the calibre of nominees presented to the Assembly,” Shawai stated.

Presiding over the session, the Speaker announced that the nominees are expected to appear before the Assembly on Tuesday, September 30, 2025, for screening and possible confirmation.

“We shall carry out a thorough and fair screening in line with the Assembly’s constitutional mandate,” Falgore said

The governor had on Sunday transmitted the names of the nominees to the Assembly, according to a separate statement by his spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa.

He described Maude as a “charismatic and ingenious lawyer” set for his investiture as a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, while Aliyu was profiled as “one of the global leading researchers in mathematics.with international academic experience.”
