Yayi Progressives Movement: Advancing Unity, Progress And The ‘Itesiwaju Agenda’ Ahead Of 2027
As political activities gradually gather momentum ahead of the 2027 general elections, the Yayi Progressives Movement (YPM), a political support group associated with Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, has positioned itself around the ideals of unity, progressive governance, and the Itesiwaju Agenda.
The movement, which operates as a grassroots political platform, seeks to promote civic participation, leadership development and community engagement across Ogun State. Its activities focus on mobilising support for its principal, Senator Adeola and other candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state, while advancing what it describes as a people-oriented development agenda.
With a strong emphasis on Youth participation, Student engagement and the involvement of Artisans and other community groups, YPM seeks to expand opportunities for political participation across Ogun State. Its stated objectives include promoting inclusive governance, fostering civic responsibility and nurturing a new generation of leaders committed to public service, in alignment with its mission and its principal’s 'Itesiwaju' Agenda.
Beyond electoral mobilisation, the movement projects an all-inclusive ambition to establish an organisational and ideological framework anchored in transparency, accountability and sustainable development. These principles, according to its stated vision, form part of its aspirations for Ogun State and Nigeria.
YPM has established operational structures across Ogun State’s 20 local government areas, providing a framework for political coordination, community outreach and engagement with residents.
The movement has also pointed to its empowerment programmes and other community-based activities as part of its efforts to strengthen grassroots relationships and expand its presence across the state. However, independent documentation of the programmes, their reach and their measurable outcomes would be necessary to establish their impact.
Under the leadership of Armstrong ‘Tope Akintunde, alongside other stakeholders, YPM has continued to organise activities around its stated objectives. Supporters of the movement describe its growth as a reflection of sustained mobilisation, internal coordination and a commitment to broadening political participation at different levels.
Ultimately, the extent to which these structures translate into lasting community benefits will depend not only on effective mobilisation but also on the movement’s ability to demonstrate measurable results, sustain broad-based engagement and respond to the concerns of residents across the state.
YPM’s mission, as presented by the movement, extends beyond supporting a political figure or participating in elections. It also emphasises leadership development and the promotion of values associated with accountable governance, inclusive participation and long-term prosperity.
As the 2027 electoral cycle approaches, the movement is increasingly framing its message around unity, inclusion and the ‘Itesiwaju Agenda’. It seeks to align these principles with Senator Solomon Adeola’s political aspirations and its standard vision for the future of Ogun State.
For the agenda to gain wider public acceptance, however, its message must extend beyond political slogans to clearly defined policy priorities and practical proposals. Issues such as education, healthcare, employment, infrastructure, agricultural development and opportunities for young people remain critical considerations in evaluating the development agenda being advanced by the movement and its principal.
The ability of political organisations to articulate clear objectives, engage constructively with diverse communities and demonstrate accountability remains central to public discourse on governance and development. For YPM, translating its stated ideals into practical initiatives and verifiable outcomes could be crucial to strengthening public confidence in its vision.
Against the background of emerging political alignments ahead of the 2027 general elections, YPM is calling on eligible voters and other stakeholders to identify with its vision for Ogun State. The movement's approach is rooted in inclusiveness and a shared commitment to a progressive development agenda.
Whether its message secures lasting support depends on several factors, including the strength of its grassroots engagement, the clarity of its development framework, and its ability to demonstrate how its stated objectives translate into tangible benefits for residents of Ogun State and beyond.
For now, the Yayi Progressives Movement is placing unity, leadership development and the ‘Itesiwaju Agenda’ at the centre of its political identity ahead of 2027. As a political support group aligned with the APC, it is seeking to consolidate support for the party and its candidates while projecting itself as a platform committed to progress, development and a shared vision for Ogun State’s future.
