Ruling houses warn against outsiders interference in Ogun stool

Three ruling houses of Mobalufon in Ogun State — Oludipe, Olumurende (Demuren), and Olumukaiye (Ilumoka) — have cautioned against interference by non-indigenes in the succession matters of the Moguniseja stool.

In a statement dated January 26, 2026, and signed by Dr. Kunle Taiwo on behalf of the ruling houses, the community reaffirmed their support for Omoba Oyebowale Ilumoka as the Moguniseja-designate. The indigenes warned that matters of succession are strictly the preserve of Mobalufon indigenes, describing recent attempts by outsiders to intervene as “improper, misleading, and unacceptable.”

The statement emphasised that Ilumoka, grandson of the late Moguniseja Joseph Ilumoka, was nominated through traditional processes recognised by all three ruling houses.

His nomination, the statement said, is grounded in lineage, tradition, and the customary laws governing the Moguniseja stool.

It further underlined that the Moguniseja stool is an internal traditional institution of Mobalufon, and that succession matters remain the exclusive responsibility of its indigenes and recognised ruling houses.

The statement read in part: “On behalf of the three ruling houses of Mobalufon — the Oludipe Ruling House, the Olumurende (Demuren) Ruling House, and the Olumukaiye (Ilumọka) Ruling House — together with the indigenes of the community, we hereby reaffirm our collective and unequivocal support for Omọba Oyebowale Ilumọka as the duly nominated Moguniseja-designate of Mobalufon.

“This position is not new. It reflects a long-standing and settled decision that has remained consistent for over six years and was reached strictly in accordance with the customs, traditions, and rotational succession system of Mobalufon.

Omọba Oyebowale Ilumọka, the grandson of the late Moguniseja Joseph Ilumọka of Mobalufon, was duly nominated through the traditional process recognised by the Oludipe, Olumurende (Demuren), and Olumukaiye (Ilumọka) ruling houses.

“His nomination is firmly rooted in lineage, tradition, and the customary laws governing the Moguniseja stool.”
