Wikki Tourists building squad capable of returning to NPFL — Coach
The Technical Adviser of Wikki Tourists FC, Bala Abubakar, has reaffirmed the club’s determination to assemble a competitive squad capable of securing an immediate return to the Nigeria Premier Football League.
Abubakar stated this during the ongoing player assessment exercise at the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Stadium in Bauchi, according to a statement issued on Tuesday.
The coach said every player currently undergoing evaluation has an equal opportunity to earn a place in the team, stressing that only those who demonstrate quality, commitment and readiness would be included in the final squad.
He disclosed that Wikki Tourists had so far played six pre-season friendly matches, winning four and losing two, noting that the fixtures had provided the technical crew with an opportunity to assess players and strengthen the team ahead of the 2026/27 Nigeria National League season.
“Our mission is clear: to return Wikki Tourists to the NPFL. We know what is expected of us, and by the grace of Allah, with the support of our management, government, supporters and all stakeholders, we will achieve that goal,” Abubakar said.
He added that the technical crew remained focused on selecting a team capable of making the people of Bauchi proud throughout the 2026/27 Nigeria National League campaign.
Wikki Tourists were relegated from the NPFL and will compete in the Nigeria National League this season as they seek an immediate return to Nigeria’s top-flight league.
