Wanted suspects in assault on Rivers LG administrator surrender to police

Two top officials declared wanted by the police for their alleged involvement in the physical assault of the Administrator of Ahaoda East Local Government Area of Rivers State, Goodluck Iheanachor, have submitted themselves to the Police.
Recall that the police had accused the Chief Security Officer of the LGA, Hector Ekakita and the Chief of Staff, Aloni Olodi, of leading about 30 youths who invaded the council headquarters about three weeks ago and allegedly beat up the LG administrator.
The assailants according to the Police also carted his mobile phone, some vital documents in his office and force him to sign a letter of resignation which they placed in front of him.
The State Commissioner of Police, Olugbenga Adepoju had invited the duo for questioning and consequently declared them wanted for attempted murder, assault and stealing after after they failed to honour his invitation.
But the spokesperson of the State Police Command, Grace Iringe-Koko, in a statement on Friday said the two top council officials have turned themselves in.
Iringe-Koko, a. Superintendent of Police said following their appearance CP Adepoju with his team interviewed them, thereafter the matter was transfered to the State Criminal Intelligence and Investigation Department,.Port Harcourt for further probe.
The statement reads, “The Rivers State Police Command wishes to inform the public that the suspects, Mr. Hector Ekakita, Chief Security Officer (CSO) and Mr. Aloni Olodi, Chief Of Staff (COS), respectively who were hitherto declared wanted on 6th. July, 2025 in connection with the alleged Criminal Conspiracy/Stealing/ Assault Occasioning Harm on the Ahoada East Sole Administrator, Hon. Goodluck Iheanachor have presented themselves to the Rivers State Police Command at Moscow Road Port-Harcourt, today the 10th. of July, 2025 at about 1500hrs.
They were subsequently interviewed by the Commissioner of Police, Rivers State Police Command and his Management Team.
“Following the preliminary interview, they were further handed over to the Deputy Commissioner of Police, In-Charge of State Criminal Investigations Department for further investigation.
“The Police Command urges anyone with useful information that can assist in the ongoing investigation to come forward.”
The Commissioner of Police, noted that the public’s cooperation and assistance are invaluable in ensuring that justice is served.
“The Command remains committed to maintaining law and order in Rivers State and assures the public that the investigation will be thorough and transparent,” the statement added.
