US-based pastor plans conference in Nigerian varsities

A United States-based Nigerian cleric, Pastor Akinsola Kings, has announced plans to hold a series of Christian conferences in Nigerian universities as part of efforts to spark a spiritual revival among students.
The programme, tagged Global Campus Reignition, is being organised by the American International Christian University, South Carolina, USA, in partnership with the Joint Campus Christian Fellowship and Christian student bodies in host institutions.
According to a statement made available to Saturday the first leg of the conference will hold at the University of Ibadan on June 14, 2025, move to Lagos State University on June 20, and later to the University of Port Harcourt on June 28.
The statement said the initiative was aimed at reigniting the spiritual lives of students, fostering discipleship, and identifying youth already making “a steady impact in the vineyard of the Lord.”
Arrangements are in top gear, and plans have been concluded to make the much-awaited gatherings a success,” the statement added.
As stated in the statement, King said the event would also help participants reaffirm their salvation, renew their commitment to Christ, and transition from passive believers to active participants in evangelism and campus ministry.
Kings added that the conference, which debuted in the US in 2024, would serve as an annual platform for students to explore their faith, discover purpose, and deepen their engagement with the Great Commission.
He estimated that about 70 million Christian students aged 18 to 24 exist globally, many of whom, he said, remain unmotivated to make a meaningful spiritual impact.
“This is why the university has designed the conference to mobilise Christian students and build a global community of young believers who will influence society positively,” he added.
The event is expected to feature ministers, gospel musicians, scholars, youth leaders, sportsmen and women, and Christian professionals from different sectors.
