Task Force dislodges street traders on Victoria Island

The Lagos State enforcement team has dislodged illegal street traders operating along Bishop Oluwole Street on Victoria Island.

The state’s Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, announced the development in a post on its official X handle on Monday, stating that the operation was part of ongoing efforts to restore order in the state.

Wahab wrote, “Our enforcement teams have just completed a successful dislodgement operation against illegal street traders on Bishop Oluwole Street in Victoria Island.

This action is part of our ongoing efforts to restore order, ensure free vehicular and pedestrian movement, and maintain the aesthetic and environmental standards of our city.”

Wahab noted that traders had been urged to relocate to government-approved markets and commercial zones, warning that “continuous violation will attract stricter sanctions.”

The state government has recently intensified its clampdown on street trading and illegal structures along major roads in Lagos.
