Sokoto to recruit indigenes to combat youth restiveness

Sokoto State Governor, Ahmed Aliyu, has approved the constitution of a committee to oversee the recruitment of qualified indigenes into the state civil service.

This was disclosed in a statement issued from the Government House, Sokoto, by the Director General, Media and Publicity, Abubakar Bawa.

“In a bid to reduce unemployment and youth restiveness factors that contribute to the rising issue of informants’ syndrome and worsening insecurity in the State, His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Sokoto State, Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto, PhD, FCNA, FCIT, has approved the setting up of a committee to oversee the recruitment of qualified Sokoto State indigenes into the State Civil Service,” the statement partly read.

According to the release, the committee will be chaired by Jelani Kalgo, with members including Sahabi Isa Gada, Bature Shinkafi, Muhammad Bello Nagwari, Ladan Ala (Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education), and Faruk A. Wurno (Commissioner for Health).

Also on the committee are the Permanent Secretaries of the Civil Service and Local Government Service Commissions, while Gandi Umar Mohammad will serve as secretary.

The statement outlined the committee’s terms of reference to include,”To develop criteria for selecting qualified candidates to fill existing vacancies in the State MDAS.

“To collate and examine applications and shortlist candidates.

To conduct interviews and assessments of candidates to determine their eligibility.”

“To recommend eligible candidates for recruitment.”

“To submit a report within one month from the date of the Committee’s appointment
