Seven suspected Delta kidnappers nabbed

Seven suspected kidnappers have been arrested by the Delta State Police Command.

The police also rescued three abducted victims after a raid on the kidnappers’ den at an abandoned poultry house, behind the Ubeji Gas Plant, in the Ubeji community area of the state.

The suspects are: Felix Omone (33), Solomon Omone (29), Tony Eboye (34), Omone David (32), Jerry Omone (33), Godspower Omone (25), and Edewho Bomele (33).

In a statement on Friday, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Bright Edafe, said the police recovered a sack containing 178 live cartridges from hoodlums in another operation.

Edafe said the victims were abducted at a dredging site in Ubeji on Thursday, ferried across the river, and later contacted with threats that they would be killed if certain demands were not met.

On October 30, 2025, at about 1140 hrs, the Divisional Police Officer of Ekpan Division, Labe Joseph, received a distress report of a suspected kidnapping incident at Ubeji community, behind the Ubeji Gas Plant.

“Acting on the report, Joseph deployed a team of detectives and patrol operatives to the scene. On sighting the approaching police teams, the suspected kidnappers ran into an abandoned poultry house within the same community.

The DPO’s team swiftly cordoned off the area, leading to the arrest of some suspects, all of the Ubeji community. The operation also led to the successful rescue of three male victims, all of the Jeddo community, who were safely reunited with their families,” the statement partly read.

Edafe said efforts were ongoing to apprehend fleeing accomplices and recover any weapons or equipment used in the operation.
