Scores of Jigawa APC members join PDP

No fewer than 573 All Progressive Congress members from Sabuwar Dan Masara town in Dutse, the Jigawa State capital, have defected to the opposition Peoples Democratic Party in a ceremony held in the town on Friday.

Speaking at the event, the leader of the defectors, Mustapha Adamu (Shugaba), from Madobi ward, who spoke on behalf of the 573 defectors, said the reason behind their decision to join the PDP is nothing more than desire to seek a positive change, considering the hardships in the country.

The defectors’ leader, Adamu (Shugaba), expressed deep dissatisfaction with the APC’s leadership and policies, citing a lack of inclusivity and disregard for the needs of the people.

“We can no longer continue to be part of a party that has abandoned the principles of fairness and justice,” he said.

Shugaba emphasised that the defectors were seeking a change and believed the PDP offered a better platform for achieving their goals.

“We are convinced that the PDP is the party that truly cares about the welfare of Nigerians and will work tirelessly to address the challenges facing our state and country,” he said.

The leader of the defectors also highlighted the PDP’s commitment to progress and development, stating that the party’s vision for the future aligned with their own aspirations.

We are excited to join a party that is dedicated to building a better Nigeria for all its citizens,” he said.

Adamu therefore urged other APC members who shared their concerns to follow suit and join the PDP, saying that “we invite all like-minded individuals to join us in this journey towards a brighter future for our state and country. Together, we can achieve greatness.”

The defector’s leader expressed optimism about the PDP’s chances in the 2027 general elections, believing that the party’s message of hope and unity would resonate with the people.
“We are confident that the PDP will emerge victorious in the next elections, and we are eager to contribute to the party’s success,” he said.

In his remark while welcoming the new defectors, Umar Danjani, the deputy Jigawa State chairman of the PDP, who represented the State chairman of the party at the occasion, warmly welcomed the defectors to the party, expressing his delight at the growing strength of the PDP in Jigawa State.

“Today marks a significant milestone in our journey towards building a stronger, more united party.

“We are thrilled to welcome our new members and look forward to working together towards a brighter future for our state,” he said.

Danjani emphasised the PDP’s commitment to progress and development, highlighting the party’s vision for a better Jigawa State.

Our party is dedicated to addressing the challenges facing our state and country, and we believe that together, we can achieve great things. We will work tirelessly to ensure that our policies and programmes benefit all Nigerians, regardless of their background or affiliation,” he explained.
