Road crash kills Borno assistant police commissioner

The Assistant Commissioner of Police, State Criminal Investigation Department of the Borno State Command, Abubakar Balteh, is dead.
In a brief statement on Saturday, the Public Relations Officer of the command, Nahum Daso, said Balteh died on Saturday, in a vehicle accident.
“The Borno State Police Command regrets the passing of ACP Abubakar A. Balteh, who passed away today, February 21, 2026, in a fatal vehicle accident.
“Until his demise, he served diligently as the Assistant Commissioner of Police, State Criminal Investigation Department Borno State Command,” the statement said.
Daso noted that details regarding the burial arrangements and other related information will be communicated in due course.
“May Almighty Allah forgive his shortcomings and grant him eternal rest,” he said.
In November 2025, Daso also announced the passing of the Deputy Commissioner of Police, State Crïminal Investigation Department of the Command, Ahmed Ibn Umar, who died after a prolonged illness
