Police recover body of 28-year-old varsity student in Gombe
The Gombe State Police Command has confirmed the recovery of the body of a 28-year-old student of the Federal University Kashere, Enoch Sunday Maisamari, from stagnant water in Sabon Garin Yero Village, Akko Local Government Area of the state.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Buhari Abdullahi, disclosed this in a text message sent to our correspondent on Friday.
According to him, the incident was reported to the police on Wednesday, July 22, 2026, at about 9:30 a.m.
“The Gombe State Police Command received a report on 22nd July, 2026, at about 0930 hours of a recovered motionless body of one Enoch Sunday Maisamari, 28 years, a student of the Federal University Kashere, from stagnant water at Sabon Garin Yero Village, Akko LGA,” Abdullahi said.
He explained that the deceased was evacuated to the General Hospital, Kashere, where medical personnel confirmed him dead.
“The victim was evacuated to the General Hospital, Kashere, where he was certified dead. No visible marks of violence were observed on the body. Investigation is ongoing to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident,” the police spokesperson added.
The command said efforts were underway to establish the cause of the student’s death, urging members of the public to remain calm as investigations continued.
