Police foil kidnap attempt, rescue four in Katsina

Katsina State Police Command says it has foiled a kidnap attempt and rescued four victims, including an infant, on Tuesday.
This is contained in a statement by the Command spokesperson, DSP Abubakar Sadiq and made available to newsmen on Wednesday in Katsina.
According to him, in another significant breakthrough in the fight against kidnapping and banditry in the state, the Katsina Police Command, under the able leadership of CP Bello Shehu has succeeded in foiling a kidnap attempt at Mazare village, Sabuwa Local Government Area of the state and rescued four victims, including three females and a baby girl noting that efforts were in to arrest the suspects.
The statement read, “On June 18th, 2025, at about 0021 hrs, a report of a suspected attack and kidnapping attempt on Mazare village by a group of suspected bandits was received at the Sabuwa Division stating that the assailants shot and injured two persons, namely: Sa’idu Isa, m, age 37, and (2) Sa’idu Wa’alam, m, age 61, all of the same address, and kidnapped three females and a baby.
Upon receipt of the report, quickly, the DPO mobilised and led a team of police operatives to the scene, where a gun battle ensued, leading to the successful rescue of all four kidnapped victims unharmed as the assailants fled the scene due to superior firepower. The injured victims were immediately rushed to the hospital for immediate medical attention, where they are receiving and responding to treatment.
“Efforts are being intensified to ensure the arrest of suspects as the investigation proceeds.
“The Commissioner of Police, Katsina State Command, CP Bello Shehu, psc, fdc, MNIM, while commending the efforts of the operative, urged the public to continue supporting the efforts of the command by timely reportage of incidents or suspicious criminal activities for prompt and decisive action,” he said.
