Police arrest suspected drug dealer with bottles of Methylene Chloride in Bauchi

The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested a suspected drug dealer, Aliyu Suleman, and recovered 64 bottles of Methylene Chloride and 17 pieces of rubber solution in the state.

Suleman, 23, is a resident of the Tudun Salmanu area of the state.

The command disclosed this in a statement issued on Wednesday by its spokesperson, Nafiu Habib.

He said the arrest was part of the command’s efforts to combat drug abuse and safeguard public health.

He said operatives of the Vehicle Crime Response Unit arrested the suspect during an intelligence-led operation at Bayan Gari in the Bauchi metropolis on Tuesday, August 25, 2026, at about 5 pm.

“The suspect was intercepted during a routine intelligence-led operation. Upon search, the following exhibits were promptly recovered from the suspect: 64 bottles containing Methylene Chloride, locally referred to as ‘Suck and Die’, and 17 pieces of Rubber Solutions,” the statement partly read.

The command said the recovered substances had been seized and registered as exhibits, adding that the suspect was currently in custody and cooperating with investigators.

He will be charged to court upon the conclusion of the investigation.”

Reacting to the development, the state’s Commissioner of Police, Sani-Omolori Aliyu, reiterated the command’s commitment to tackling the distribution and abuse of harmful substances in the state.

The CP directed all Area Commanders and Divisional Police Officers to intensify surveillance and operations aimed at dismantling networks involved in the sale and abuse of illicit drugs and other harmful substances.

The command also called on parents, guardians and community stakeholders to remain vigilant and provide timely information to security agencies.

“The fight against drugs and substance abuse requires a collective approach,” the statement noted.
