Police arrest four robbery suspects in Gombe, recover motorcycle, others

Operatives of the Gombe State Police Command have arrested four suspected armed robbers in connection with a violent house invasion in Bajoga, Funakaye Local Government Area.
The suspects, identified as Manu Muhammed, popularly known as Bappa Charger, Auwalu Muhammed alias Yellow, aged 30, Ubaida Sani, 19, of Pantami Quarters, and Hussaini Muhammed, 19, of Madaki Quarters, were nabbed after an intelligence-led operation.
According to the state Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Buhari Abdullahi, in a statement on Friday, the suspects stormed the residence of 25-year-old Muhammed Ahmed at Unguwar Matasa Quarters around 1:30 a.m. on June 26, 2025.
Armed with machetes and sticks, they forcefully broke into the house and threatened to kill the victim if he failed to comply.
Under serious threat and intimidation, the gang dispossessed the victim of a Haojue motorcycle worth N1.6 million, three Android phones valued at N336,000, and a cash sum of N134,000,” Abdullahi said.
He added that the prompt response of officers from Bajoga Division led to the successful arrest of the four suspects and the recovery of critical exhibits, including the stolen motorcycle, three Android phones, a fabricated master key, three machetes, one knife, and N74,150 cash believed to be part of the stolen money.
The suspects are currently in custody and will be charged in court upon the conclusion of the investigation.
Abdullahi said the operation was a testament to the Gombe State Police Command’s resolve to clamp down on criminal elements.
Commenting on the development, the Commissioner of Police Bello Yahaya, commended the operatives for their quick action and warned that the command would not tolerate criminality in any part of the state.
“Our message to all criminals is simple—Gombe will not provide you a safe. We are committed to pursuing every lead and ensuring the safety of our people,” he said.
The police command also called on residents to remain vigilant and continue to support the police by providing timely and actionable information.
“Security is a shared responsibility. With the support of the public, we can keep our communities safe,” Abdullahi added.
