Police address viral video of alleged kidnappers in Lagos

Lagos State Police Command has initiated an investigation into a viral video showing three suspected kidnappers following public outcry over the incident.
The video, shared by an X user, Oguntoye Opeyemi (@Equityoyo), claimed that three kidnappers were caught at Victory Estate, Ago Palace, Lagos. The post read: “JUST IN: Three kidnappers caught in Victory Estate Ago Palace, Lagos. God help us ooo.”
Reacting to the post, Lagos police spokesman, Benjamin Hundeyin, clarified that the matter had not been officially reported to the police. However, authorities have now launched an investigation to verify the claims, locate the individuals involved and take appropriate action.
“This matter was not reported to the Police. However, investigations have commenced to unravel what truly transpired, locate the men and take further necessary actions,” Hundeyin wrote.
He further revealed that the estate chairman, two other executive members, and a resident are currently assisting the police with their inquiries. The police assured the public that updates on the case would be provided as the investigation progresses.
